2 Tips to Prevent Cancer

Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009

We all know that it is better to be safe than sorry. But we hardly give importance to our health except when we experience something bad in our bodies then we would consult a doctor. When the doctor tells you that you are sick and you have this and that, you would go “Huh?” The doctor then tells you what it means and how you acquired it and you would say “I wish I’d known it before” Does it sound familiar? You bet.

When we were younger we would think that nothing can stop us. We do things that we like and we don’t care what will happen. But times change, we grow old. Like a newly purchased book, it gets torn and tattered after a few years. Our bodies are like that. We become more susceptible to diseases and injuries when we grow older. Diseases like breast and prostate cancer.

How can we prevent breast and prostate cancer?

  • Be aware. Gain enough knowledge to protect yourself and your loved ones.
  • Practice healthy lifestyle. Eat healthy, drink lots of water, get enough exercise and rest.

Those two simple things will do wonders for your body. Eating the right foods and getting enough rest and exercise can certainly give your body vitamins and minerals to replenish your body and at the same time boost your immune system keeping you healthy and strong.

Live your life in the healthiest way possible and learn about cancer and how you can prevent it from affecting your life.

Knowing About Ovarian Cancer

Thursday, April 16th, 2009

Often unnoticed and easily confused with other health problems are the symptoms of ovarian cancer. The best way to determine them is to be aware of the symptoms and immediately consult your doctor if you suspect that you have or experience them.

But first you have to assess yourself. Are you at risk with cancer most specifically ovarian cancer? To help you with your assessment, check out your family tree. Do you have relatives who have cancer or have died from ovarian cancer? If you do, then you should be alert for any signs of the disease.

Another factor to assess is your age. The older you are, the more you are at risk of developing ovarian cancer. Also women who have never borne a child have a higher risk than mothers.

Below are ovarian cancer symptoms every woman should watch out for:

  • Bloating
  • Pain during intercourse
  • Abnormal bleeding
  • Fatigue
  • Changes in bladder patterns

If you experience any of these symptoms, consult your doctor ASAP. Early detection has a higher chance of recovery.

Be aware. Learn more about this disease. Remember, prevention is better than cure. You just may save your life and your loved ones by sharing them your learned information.

Don’t you sometimes wish that cancer has a cure? I’m sure you do too. A lot of people would be very happy especially those who are suffering for the disease.

Cancer is one of the most researched diseases. People from all walks of life want to know what this disease is and how to prevent it.

What causes cancer then? Due to the research and study done regarding cancer, it has been found out that the food we eat have a connection with cancer. High salt, sugar, cholesterol and saturated fats in the diet can result to cancer. However, one that is not commonly found in books and on the internet that can also cause cancer is the dairy products. Recent studies have shown that calcium from dairy products can be detrimental to men and lead to the onset of prostate cancer.

Next on the list that causes cancer would be smoking. Either you smoke or inhale second hand smoke; you are not exempted from lung cancer.

As a general rule, healthy living is a must. Eating healthy foods, getting enough rest and exercise and drinking plenty of water can certainly help to prevent diseases most especially cancer.

What are the different types of cancer? Believe it or not, we are at risk to all types of cancer except for ovarian cancer for males and prostate cancer for females.

Fortunately, with the advancement in medical research, and the people’s growing initiative to learn more about the disease, the number of affected patients and deaths due to cancer is reducing. That’s good news right? Let me give you an example. Recently I have read and even watch it on TV that cervical cancer is caused by a virus and now there is actually a vaccine to help prevent it.

Prevention and early detection are our best weapons to prevent any type of cancer. Although it’s been said that some types are easier to deal with than others, you never know right. You can also check your family history for cancer, and if it’s present then you are at a high risk.

By becoming aware about the different types of cancer, we are arming ourselves with knowledge and giving ourselves a fighting chance to prevent it. My advice for all: Live a healthy lifestyle and regular physical check up. Don’t wait until you feel something unusual. Be proactive!
